Why prep is most of the price

Anybody can roll paint onto a wall. What decides whether it still looks right in five years is what happened before the first coat: scraping, sanding, filling, caulking, and priming the spots that need it.

When a quote comes in noticeably cheaper than everyone else's, prep is almost always what's missing from it. The finish looks identical the day it's done. That's the problem.

Making the repair disappear

Patching a wall is easy. Making the patch invisible is the actual skill — feathering the compound out far enough that the transition has nowhere to catch the light, then priming the repair so it doesn't flash a different sheen than the wall around it.

Late afternoon light coming across a wall finds every shortcut. That's the test we work to, not how it looks under a work lamp at four feet.
